Baron de Sigognac Vintage 1965 Bas Armagnac
The Sigognac house is one of the oldest in Armagnac and a rarity in the business, as they own all their vineyards, its distillery, an exceptional ageing cellar and they bottle all their own production. Every single year, Baron de Sigognac keeps a few casks for very long “ageing” and as such they have a fantastic back catalogue, with at least some 1000 casks of vintages. An amber color with mahogany highlights. A fine nose with aromas of cinnamon and currants, fine and elegant on the palate, well-balanced with aromas of dried fruit and a slightly spicy finish. This Baron de Sigognac Vintage Armagnac was distilled in 1965, the same year that one of the most popular musical films of all time, "The Sound of Music", starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, premieres and also witnessed the state funeral for Sir Winston Churchill at St Paul's Cathedral in London.
