Petrolo Galatrona 2022
Galatrona is the “Grand-Cru” red wine of Petrolo, made from 100% Merlot grapes grown on the Galatrona vineyard which was planted in the late 1980’s and early 1990's with low vigor bordeaux clones. Since 2004 Petrola have adopted a natural and more sustainable approach to viticulture and official organic certification was obtained in 2016. At the winery, following spontaneous malolactic fermentation the wine is matured for up to 20 months in rigorously selected French oak tonneaux and barriques (1/3 new) with regular bâtonnage of the fine lees for the first 8 months. The Petrolo 'Galatrona' is an intensely elegant Merlot with great structure and complexity displaying lovely balance between acidity, fruit and tannins.[#intro]Petrolo's “Grand Cru” Super-Tuscan is considered a reference point for Merlot in Italy...[/intro]
